My Review:
While not my usual genre, as of late, I'm trying to get more into suspense/mystery novels since my next release will be a series of romantic suspense stories. This had elements of romance in it, but the primary focus was the suspense, which was well done. Mr. Hess has pulled together a chilling story of revenge from the madman's perspective and his final descent into lunacy. Told in multiple POVs, in first person from the detective as she unravels the clues, and third person from the killer as well as various other characters, it is a risky writing style, but done effectively. In fact, Mr. Hess is as effective with this technique as some of the bigger names in the genre. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a change from the erotic thrillers out there, as it was refreshing to me to not read all the sex (I know, I blaspheme!). This was an enjoyable read, and lovely departure from my norm. There were a few typos/editing mistakes that could have been improved upon, but they didn't detract too much from the story, in my opinion.
