Make it stop!!! Wait, no. As soon as it stops I'm screwed...

I've been clearing out my 2016 schedule--my mom is about to have to move closer to me, and I know that's going to divert more of my energy toward all the stuff that goes with moving her.  So, I've tried to gracefully bow out of anthologies and stuff like that.  But holy hell.  Yesterday I got an idea in my head, and it's HUGE.  I mean, it has the potential to change the landscape of my career, as well as others involved, in such a massive way that I'm a little overwhelmed by myself.  I haven't been as excited about something since I decided to go Indie, so I know this is something I need to do.

I owe it to myself to make it happen.  And because of this, I will re-organize my calendar--again--in order to make this work.  I'll walk around my house with a notepad in hand all next week, and begin contacting authors over the holidays, and then cross my fingers.

I'm all about collaboration, and this will collaboration on a scale I've never quite done before.  I just need to work out all the details in advance, and then hope everyone does their job.  If enough authors are involved, they don't all need to do much, except write.  And that's golden, right?

In the meanwhile, I must keep my brain from overloading itself.  Currently, I'm working on a Pierce Securities novella for Susan Stoker's world, and I'm hoping have that rough draft done by the end of next week.  I'm still in the revisions stages for book one of the Book B!tches, a new series that I am taking a chance on and hoping readers will enjoy.  It will be my second release of 2016, hopefully in March.  Grab is still on schedule for a January release, and Seek will come in April, if the stars align.  I have the rough drafts of another Pierce Security novel that I'm working on (Quinten, if anyone's interested), which will come in Summer of 2016.  The Book B!tches will be full force in 2016 as well, so if you like your contemporary romance swirled around with some historical romance elements, feel free to check those out.  I have plans for at least four additional Pierce Securities books in 2017, so they won't be stopping anytime soon.

With all that going on, I honestly don't see how I can squeeze another project in, but I'm going to look at everything and see what can happen, because I WANT this to happen.  In a bad way.  Thanks for reading, and look for Chapter one of the first Book B!tches story to be posted soon.  :)

About Badass Book Society

Over the course of several weeks—months, actually—an editor, cover designer, author, publishing consultant, and blogger all hung out and discussed what was going on in the Indie publishing arena. Tales of individuals marketing themselves as editors without even a moderate understanding of grammar rules, blog tours with absolutely zero engagement and planning, embarrassing covers, formatting that was a jumbled mess, and authors who brow-beat reviewers for poor reviews were just a few of the things discussed with this Publishing Round-table.

These individuals decided they wanted readers to have a place where they were guaranteed a Badass Reading experience. A place where the reader could be sure the book they purchased was professionally written, edited, formatted, covered, and promoted. So, Badass Book Society was born.

Then we started thinking...What constitutes a Badass Author? Is it an author who has a large following on social media? An author who consistently hits the Best Seller list (or says they do, anyway)? Or is a Badass Author an author who takes their writing and publishing seriously? Someone who pays or barters for editing, formatting, covers, promotion. You know, someone who puts their money where their mouth is.

While these professionals were sitting around brainstorming, the idea of having a directory, of sorts, to list reputable Indie publishing professionals started to take hold. What if we could list Badass Professionals who went above and beyond for their authors? What if we listed those Professionals who had the experience, knowledge, and originality to always produce stellar results? So, Badass Professionals was born.
A call for Badass Authors is imminent but you can find out more about becoming a Badass Author at

#NewRelease #Sale #UnderABuck Anne Conley's Click, Latest from the boys at Pierce Securities

Introducing Anne Conley's latest release, Click, Book #3 in the Pierce Securities series.  Now available at Amazon, and other retailers soon!

BLURB
Jake Callahan has a problem, and the only people who can fix it are the guys with Pierce Securities.  Except Jake needs a woman.  Miriam Bartoli will happily play the part of a sexy woman to get what the client needs, especially since playing mom to an office full of alpha males and recent surgery has wreaked havoc on her femininity.  Can she fight her attraction with the target long enough to get what the client needs?  Or will this case of mistaken identity and clicking with the wrong man be the end of her?

EXCERPT

“What’s perfect?”

“This right here.  The stars.  Aren’t they beautiful?”  She glanced over to find Jake staring at her.

“You’re beautiful.”

His hand cupped her neck and he came in close.  “Can I?”

Miriam didn’t respond.  She licked her lips as if they weren’t listening to her brain, which was emphatically yelling at her to stop this.

Jake obviously wasn’t listening to her internal monologue as his lips captured hers in a tentative kiss.

Her brain reminded her he was an asshole at the bar, he’d given her coke yesterday, he was mixed up in Tres Lobos, and he stole from his parents.  It was screaming at her that this was a bad idea.
But at the touch of his lips on hers, the lizard part of her brain—the part which was just made to eat, sleep, and have sex—told her to go for it.  She whimpered into his lips in defeat, and his arms went around her waist, pulling her close as he deepened the kiss.  Jake’s lips were soft, his mouth warm, and the aftershave exquisite.  She didn’t want him to ever let her go.

“Oh my God,” she breathed at him between kisses.  His tongue delved into her mouth, but before she lost herself completely, she pulled back.  “We can’t do this.”

He kissed her again, muttering against her mouth, “Why not?”

“I can think of half a dozen reasons off the top of my head.”

That seemed to stop him, but he didn’t let go of her.  Jake just looked at her quizzically, as if he saw absolutely nothing wrong with the fact they were kissing.  He apparently didn’t realize he had a dual personality and was a complete shit half the time he existed.  He finally looked up, taking a deep breath.  When he refocused on her, his eyes hardened into something wild. Something feral.  Something passionate.  And a little scary.

“Blame it on the stars,” was all he said before his mouth captured hers again.  This kiss was different from the first.  Where the first one was tentative \ and exploratory, this kiss was devouring.  It was like he’d gotten a taste of nirvana and craved more.  It was heady, the way his tongue was mating with hers in a fiery kiss that was quickly undoing her cell by cell.  Her last coherent thought was that Simon was going to kill her.

Check out the other books in this series, Craze and Wire:

Craze:  When Krista catches her boss doing the unthinkable, the only thing she can do is run. Straight into the arms of the eye-candy she’s been trying not to flirt with on her lunch break. But whose side is he on?

Ryan’s security firm is having a hard time getting off the ground, and this may be just the job to help the company out. But pseudo-bounty hunter isn’t really what Pierce Securities is trying to get a name for. When he finds out their target is the classy lady from the park, all of Ryan’s senses go on high alert. What do these men want with her?

Krista is forced into Ryan’s sanctuary in the woods, where she realizes just how wild he is, but she doesn’t want to tame him. He may feel his methods of protection endangered her, but without Krista in his life, Ryan is crazed.

Wire:  Evan Rocco has been a hero to Paige Lawson for as long as she could remember. So when she runs into him in a bar after a major professional coup, she’s feeling celebratory and reckless. But it can’t go anywhere, because after all, he’s Evan freaking Rocco. But when her gaming company gets into trouble, there’s only one man she can turn to.

Evan can’t get the woman who disappeared after their one-night-stand six months ago out of his head. He’d honestly thought there was more between them besides just sex—a connection he’d never felt before. When PSL, his favorite software game company is in trouble, he jumps at the chance to help them solve the mystery behind The Crimson Lady and get his mind off the woman of his dreams.

When he realizes who the CEO of PSL actually is, he has to get over his own issues or else he’ll put the one woman in danger he never wanted to hurt.

#NewRelease #Romance #99cents HUNTER by @mmadiganauthor

I had the pleasure of giving this a read a few weeks ago, and HOLY HOTNESS BATMAN!!!  This is one well-written, steamy read that will have you begging for more from the Caine brothers.  'Nuf Said.  At .99. this is a total steal.

  NEW RELEASE

HUNTER is the first book in the new Caine Brothers series of erotic romance novellas by Margaret Madigan. It releases October 19, 2015.

Series Blurb:

The Caine Brothers: A billionaire, a biker, a SEAL, a fighter, a rock star, and a shifter. Six sexy, in-control alphas who think they have women all figured out...until they each  meet their match.

Hunter Blurb:

He had a billion reasons to be happy...until he met her. Then only one reason mattered.

When Hunter Caine takes over the CEO position at his father's multi-billion dollar real estate development company, he also inherits his father's sexy blonde personal assistant, Allison McDowell.

Allison doesn't appreciate being passed around like property, but when she meets Hunter, sparks fly. He's gorgeous, but if he's anything like his misogynistic father, Allison's ready to resign.

Hunter's considering the purchase of a resort in Costa Rica. It's currently a couples-only resort, so he asks Allison to go undercover with him, posing as newlyweds. Allison's skeptical, but it's a free trip to Costa Rica, and Hunter's easy on the eyes, so why not?

Those sparks turn into raging hot flames as Hunter and Allison explore the resort--and each other--and discover that what happens in Costa Rica may or may not actually stay in Costa Rica.

Excerpt:

Hunter went right back into the bathroom to do whatever he intended to do to get that roaring erection under control.  Allison pondered following him and helping him out, one way or another.

Two things stopped her; first, her legs were so weak from that flipping amazing orgasm that she didn’t think she could walk across the room, and secondly, the anticipation of owing him heated her all over again.

While he’d showered the first time, she’d moved all their luggage to the closet. Now, she went to find a dry pair of panties.

She changed them and sat on the bed, waiting for Hunter and remembering his fingers on her and in her. The ghost of his touch still lingered on her skin and in the receding pulse of her orgasm.

If that was just a sample of what they’d do to each other, she didn’t need to sleep on it. To hell with caution, she was ready for more.

But apparently he’d decided they’d stick to the agreement.

It didn’t take long for him to finish in the bathroom, and when he left the bathroom this time, he looked like he could barely contain his triumph. Like by making her come like that he’d proven some primal point. Like he’d achieved a coup, vanquished a rival, swept in and made a hostile takeover. He puffed his chest, threw his shoulders back, and pretty much strutted into the room.

“Kinda proud of yourself there, chief?” she asked.

“Maybe a little. Where’s my suitcase?”

She pointed at the closet. He went in and rummaged, coming out with charcoal slacks and a blue shirt. He laid everything out on the bed, then paused.

“There are four restaurants here. Any idea what you’re hungry for?” she asked.

    “Seriously, you have to ask?”

She looked at him, saw the unfiltered lust in his eyes, and remembered he still hadn’t been properly taken care of. A little bit of waiting wouldn’t hurt Mr. I-get-everything-I-want-when-I-want-it CEO. Might build some character.

“Patience is a virtue, you know.”

    “I don’t like to wait.”

    “Waiting makes everything better.”

    “Bullshit.”

    “You’ll see.”

He rolled his eyes, and she smiled. This weekend could be a lot of fun.

“Are you going to sit there while I dress?” he asked.

    “Do you want me to?”

“Yes. But if you do, we won’t be waiting for tomorrow. If I get naked with you now, you’d better be ready to skip dinner and forget about sleep for most of the night.”

“Well, then. I’ll step out and let you dress. Because I’m starving.”

    “Coward.”

She slid off the bed, laughing at his fake insult. As she passed him on the way to the door, she grabbed the edge of his towel and yanked it off.

He growled and reached for her, but she squealed and ran for the living room. She flopped onto the couch, giggling like a little girl, but when she looked back to the bedroom Hunter stood in the doorway, naked as the day he was born, the single most glorious man she’d ever had the privilege to witness in the nude.

He’d reached up and hooked his fingers over the top of the door jamb, and lounged there casually displaying himself for her perusal. She had no doubt he meant for her to understand what she was missing. Her skin tingled, and her mouth watered in appreciation. She’d need to change her panties again.

Tall, tan, lean, and hung, Hunter made the perfect argument without even saying a word.

“Wow.” How she managed even one coherent word, she had no idea.

    He grinned. “Damn right, wow.”

    “Ego much?”

He shrugged and turned back to the bedroom, giving her a great view of his ass.

Waiting for tomorrow would be a serious challenge, but she didn’t like to lose any more than he did, so she’d wait. Until then, she’d have as much fun teasing him as possible.

#99Cents #KindleDeal Get Victoria Bright's Dangerous Concoctions for .99

SYNOPSIS

Mixing the past and present could have dangerous consequences…

I’ve always been a man of second chances, forgiving Arianna proved that. Sometimes, a second opportunity was all someone needed to do things right. I knew that better than anyone. Now that I had my girl back and business was prospering, things were finally falling into place. Little did I know, my newfound happiness wouldn’t last very long.
When a man responsible for my near demise resurfaces, my life is shaken up once again. What seemed like an innocent, harmless favor quickly turned out to be a malicious scheme that put my business, relationship, and freedom at risk.

With time running out, I race around the city piecing together the complicated puzzle I was a part of, only to come face to face with the men responsible. In this erotic suspense, will my past repeat itself in order to settle a score or am I doomed to take the fall for something I didn’t do?

Happy Sunday! #WhatImUpTo #AmWriting #BusyBusyBusy

Happy SUNDAY!!!

I've been so busy lately, I haven't had time to blog much.  I decided to let you guys in on what all's been keeping me so busy, so you can understand.

The Pierce Securities books have been a HUGE hit, and are selling like crazy, which has been amazing.  I've been trying to keep up with fan's demands for more, and am currently working on the rough draft to Zack's story, Seek.  I quit smoking in March, and had a rough period where I couldn't write anything from an outline.  A new character came alive in my head, so I wrote him instead, and VOILA!  Jordan happened, so Pierce Securities is now a seven book series, and I'm okay with that.  Here's the reading order, if you're interested.

Craze  (out now)
Wire  (out now)
Click (Out November 4)
Grab  (Jordan's story, Out Jan 2016)
Seek  (2016)
Murmur (2016)
Echo  (2016)

AND in the midst of all that, I got a ridiculous idea for a new series, which will also be started early 2016.  I have the first rough draft written, and it's LOOOOOOONG, but it's going to be good, I hope.  It's a genre-bender: a small-town contemporary romance, with a suspense plot twisting around in there, as well as a kicking historical component.  I don't have a blurb yet, but it's coming along faster than I anticipated, so all that should be coming soon.

I finished the Four Winds Series, so Falling for Cyn is live on Amazon now.  I'm having the entire series re-formatted for your reading pleasure, so look for a new push for the entire series soon.  In the meantime, I have this cool graphic to share...ain't it pretty?

I'm currently in THREE anthologies, so several of my books are available for download at .99 if you're interested in reading them along with discovering some new authors.

For contemporary romance fans, The Fixer Upper is in Affairs of the Heart

For paranormal romance fans, Falling for Heaven is in By Moonlight

And for romantic suspense lovers, Craze is in What to Read After Fifty Shades of Gray, Sexy Suspense Boxed Set

So with four rough drafts working, a new series swirling around, and all the other hooplah that goes with things, I gotta say, I'm busy, but busy is great.  NO COMPLAINTS!

And in the midst of all this, I have a 79-year-old mother, two kids, and a hub-meister who all demand the utmost care, which I endeavor to half-heartedly give.  So life happens as well.

My blog has suffered, but I'm trying to do better.  I'll be updating my homepage soon, and posting a new first chapter.  So tell me.  Do you want the first chapter of the new series?  Or Zack's story?  Tell me in the comments, and one random commenter will win an e-book of Craze (if you haven't read it, if you have, you can choose another of my titles)  Let me hear from you!

#PNR #NewRelease #Multicultural #Romance @AuthorWren Vexed by Wren Michaels Interview and Review

Thanks for sharing in the release of my first full-length novel! I hope you enjoy reading about Kena and Luc as much as I enjoyed writing them. There's plenty of action, adventure, romance, and Vodou for everyone!
VEXED-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-banner3
I did a little Q&A about the book:

Q) How did you dream up the dynamics of your characters? Originally the story was going to be completely different when I wrote the first 5000 words or so of the book. But after I came back from the 2014 Romantic Times convention in New Orleans, I was inspired to write something with a Vodou/NOLA flair. So the book took a twist and became so much more than I ever imagined. I wanted a strong heroine and an alpha male. But Luc ended up being more of an Alpha/Beta blend. He's not really one or the other. He's quite complex. Kena ended up being a witty heroine who took things into her own hands.

Q) Do you have any habits that get you in the writing frame of mind? Music is my biggest influence. I listened to mainly instrumental gaming soundtracks while writing. But one of my Critique Partners burned me a CD of music she thought would be perfect for this book, and it was filled with great songs by The Black Keys, Rolling Stones, Zepplin, Jack White and Muse. It ended up really making scenes come alive for me.

Q) How much real life do you put into or influences your books? In this book I tried to make the characters reflect their Vodou based deities. I did take some artistic liberties and spun a few things, but I did a lot of research to make sure a lot of the intricacies of their actual descriptions and quirks made it into the story.

VEXED-evernightpublishing-JayAheer2015-finalimages

Vodou stole her life. A gay ghost stole her boots. And the man who stole her heart stole her memories. Kena plans to get it all back.
Ex-cop Kena's life is filled with regret, beer, and Cheetos. That is, until her ghostly roomie sends her dumpster diving, leading her to a sexy stranger named Luc and a fate she'd rather not remember. As Kena's memories resurface, so do her feelings for Luc, the man she's secretly been in love with for the last thousand years. And he needs her for more than a stroll down memory lane.
Vodou spirits, known as Loa, have been trapped in human form, and are trying to make their way back to the spirit world. But Luc's brother is possessed by a vengeance demon conjured at the hands of NOLA's crime syndicate kingpin. Saving him means damning herself to a spirit prison in a loveless, arranged union with the very man she's supposed to rescue. But not helping Luc's brother sentences him to death, leaving New Orleans in the hands of black magick, and losing Luc forever.

excerptCHANGEOFHEART
After stripping out of the wet clothes, I wrapped the towel around myself and wandered out to his room. On the bed lay a white long-sleeve button-down shirt. With a hard swallow, I dropped the towel and picked up the shirt, pulling it to my face. I took a long, hard sniff. Laundry detergent. Of course. Did I think it would smell like him?

Like he'd give you a dirty shirt to wear, Kena.

Thankful he didn't witness me in idiot-mode, I slid myself into the shirt and was caught mid-button when he knocked at the door.

“Are you decent?” He pushed the door open a crack.

“I'm clothed, if that's what you mean. Decent is debatable at the moment.” Purposely leaving the top three buttons undone, I worked my way to the bottom button as he walked in.

He halted mid-stride and looked at me. His chest rose and fell in quick spurts, training his eyes over me from head to toe. Veins traversed the length of his arm as he clenched his fists at his sides. “I don't wear underwear, so I apologize I have no bottoms. It's all I had that was long enough to cover you.” His position relaxed as he leaned against the mahogany armoire.

“Anything's better than cold, sopping-wet clothes.” I ran a finger through my hair, now slowly drying into loose stringy curls.

“So, are you going to tell me what happened tonight?” Folding his arms across his broad chest, bulging muscles stretched the navy-blue fabric barely covering his biceps.

I shook my head. “Not until I get some honesty from you, big guy.”

With a tilt of his head, he donned a sly grin. “You haven't asked the right questions.”

“Is this a game for you? Do you enjoy messing with people's lives? Do you get off on some fucked-up high being in total control?” My fingernails burrowed into the palm of my hand. Everything in me wanted to slap the shit out of him and then ride him like a cowboy.

He pushed off the dresser and walked over to me, lowering his head coming to a stop inches from my face. “You're the one in control and yet you refuse to acknowledge it.
You refuse to let your mind accept it. Stop playing and start being.”

“What do you want from me?” I yelled, a little louder than intended.

“I want you to be you. I want you to”—he stopped and dropped his gaze to my lips, and then slowly made his way back up to my eyes—“come back.”

“Kiss me.” The words rushed from my lips without another thought. My heart hammered so hard in my chest I thought it would shatter my rib cage.

His breathing quickened. A low growl rumbled in his throat. “Don't do this to me, Kena.”

“Don't do what? You're the one doing things to me.” I slammed my hands against his chest and he sailed across the room, his back hitting the dresser behind him. “Shit! I'm sorry.” I reached out for him with a trembling hand.

Fuck, I’d done it again.

He shook his head and straightened himself up. In a blur of movement, he shot across the room and grabbed onto either side of my shirt, yanking me up to his face. “You want me to kiss you?”

“Yes,” I said in more of whooshing sound than a word.

He pressed his lips against my neck and his fingers curled into the fabric of the shirt, pulling me onto my tiptoes. “You don't even know who I am.”

“I don't care.” Words no longer made sense to me, only his touch spoke a language I could understand.

He laughed as he pushed me against the wall. Gripping the back of my head with the entire palm of his hand, he splayed the other across my cheek, his thumb resting against my jawline. Tilting my head back, he hovered his lips over mine. “You will.”

His lips crushed against my mouth.

With a sweep of his tongue, he devoured me into a kiss the likes of which I've never experienced before in my life. He punished my mouth with his tongue, sliding it over mine in a delicious dance of ecstasy and aggression. His hold on me was not that of violence, but of passion. The way his fingertips eased against my face, yet held me there as if he was scared to let go, revealed a vulnerability. He may be a man of few words who knew how to play the vague card, but his body and actions gave him away.

I arched into him, and he pinned me back against the wall with his hip. Clawing at his shirt, I ripped it out of his jeans and slid my fingers over his heated skin. A surge of energy rushed my fingertips as they glided along his body, electrifying me.

“Fuck, Kena,” he hissed, pulling back from the kiss.

In a movement so fast it blurred everything around me, he shot out the door, slamming it behind him. He left me gasping, clinging to the wall behind me just to remain standing.
My legs wobbled like Jell-O as I stumbled to the bed and collapsed. He sucked all the air from my body and replaced it with an ache, a driving need for more of him.

What the hell was he?

My Review:
OMG...  I have been hearing about this book for months and it still took me to unexpected places which is exactly what I want my reading experiences to do for me.  My heart was in my throat throughout most of the book because I was so invested in the well-drawn characters.  The setting was exquisite and made me long for my next visit to New Orleans (which, incidentally is only a couple of weeks away).  There isn't anything I can say about this book besides, WOW. I truly believe Wren is up there in my top ten favs, especially as she's a new author and is quickly sweeping me off my feet.

At the time, she’d been concerned with what that meant for them as a couple, but in the years that followed, they’d learned to adapt to the logistics of an army relationship.
But when life throws her a curve ball, how will she cope? Can she pick up the pieces and make her picture beautiful again? Or does she realize that, sometimes, the pieces can be too broken to fit back together…

Jax
I was born and bred to be the man I am today. My father and his father were both graduates from The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Both went on to become helicopter pilots. Both had seen plenty of action. Both had met and caused devastation. Both men, who I respect more above all, had served and protected the United States and her people honorably for decades.
My best friend, William Cruz, who attended the academy with me, had flown beside me, had lived the same life as I had and shared the same ambitions in life, was gone now. This was not part of the plan. Will and I were supposed to have each other’s backs, support each other and never let anything supersede our bond.
Francesca
I sat on Norfolk Beach needing to feel close to him on the anniversary of his death. It was a beautiful day in May and I was cutting class. I had done the same every year since he passed.
Jaxson Irons was only supposed to be in Pensacola for a year. But now three years later I still hadn't heard from him. I saw a man running down the beach and I knew immediately who it was.
Jaxson didn't respond the way I had dreamed he would. He told me we would catch up someday soon. I stood and watched until he was gone.
Thump, thump. I placed my hand on my chest as I felt my heart beat again for what felt like the first time in three years. Thump, thump. I felt the blood moving quickly through my body. It’s heat once again present. Thump, thump. I looked up at the sky and let out a breath. A breath that I had been holding forever. Thump, thump.
I felt tears fall down my face as I raised my hands in the air and laughed out loud.

Love Survives
Imagine being in love with the same girl since you were ten years old, only to have her fall for your twin instead. This story is rocky.
It will rip you apart and possibly put you back together again.
I know this because it's my story.
The pain and anguish experienced in this is what it was like to hold onto hope that some day we'd find each other again. I won't sugar coat the details of what I went through to have her, nor will I apologize for any actions that led me right back into her life.
Sometimes love isn't enough.
For me, it took some bad experiences, a little fate, and a lot of time.
This book follows Love's Suicide. It can be read by itself as a stand alone.
