Excerpt
“How cold is it supposed to get?”

“Not too cold.  Fifties?”

“You should have told me to bring more clothes.”

“I packed some for you.”  He grinned at her outraged expression.

“You had clothes for me and let me parade around in that blanket all day?”

Flabbergasted, she watched heat creep into his face as he ducked his head, his grin turning sheepish.  “A guy can hope.”

“Hope for what?”  Heart pounding, she saw the evidence of his attraction as he avoided her gaze.  Was he actually as attracted to her as she was to him?  Why all the avoidance then?  It would certainly make their time together pass faster.  At least less awkwardly.  “Hope for what, Ryan?”

He looked up at her, the flush in his face making his complexion look ruddy.  Hot as hell.  She couldn’t stop herself.  Krista had never thrown herself at a man the way she was compelled to do with Ryan, but the way he looked at her—like he could devour her any second—made any semblance of decorum fly out the window… er… shelter.

Licking her lips, she watched as Ryan froze, every muscle in his body tensing up.  There wasn’t much space between them, but she closed it as she crawled into his lap, feeling a devilish grin on her face.  She could feel his arousal press against her core, and she automatically ground against it, eliciting a moan from him.
She’d never been this way with a man before.  His hands came up to grip her hips, as if to stop her, but his eyes told her to keep going.  He looked helpless to stop his desires and seemed on the verge of giving in to them.

“Hope for what, Ryan?” she repeated in a whisper before leaning forward.  She knew he wanted this almost as badly as she did.

“Don’t…” he breathed at her, leaning his forehead against hers.
Her pussy was so hot and wet; she couldn’t believe he was stopping.  He was hard and ready.  She rocked against him to illustrate.

“Don’t what?  You want this, don’t you?”  A shot of sobering indecisiveness rankled her.  “Or is this all one-sided?”  She backpedaled, crawling out of his lap and onto her pile of leaves.

“Fuck,” Ryan muttered under his breath.  “Of course I want it, Krista.  Like nothing I’ve ever wanted before.”  His voice was hoarse and gritty.  He adjusted the bulge in his pants, but didn’t come any closer, and Krista felt the sting of rejection all over again.  “You’re fucking beautiful.  And classy.  And perfect.”  He let out a whoosh of air she felt across the shelter.  “But I know that if we do anything, I’ll want to spend every day buried inside that sweet pussy and I won’t be able to protect you with a distraction like that.”  He stood, ducking in the low-ceilinged structure.  “I need to protect you.”  Without another word, he stalked out of the structure, into the rain.

Krista shivered in the sudden cold of the shelter.  The temperature hadn’t dropped physically, but the absence of Ryan left a definite chill against her heated skin.  What the fuck had just happened?  She had no doubt he wanted her.

Why Release Week Makes me Cray-Cray.. #NotWriting #HeadDesk

I was trying to make one of those really super cute animated gif blog posts like buzzfeed or something, but I spent too long trying to figure out how, so that should tell me to move the fuck onto my list...

Top 10 reasons why the week before release week makes me crazy

10.  I am putting together cool graphic teasers to go along with blog posts and graphics are soooo not my thing.  I spend HOURS, DAYS even, doing what somebody else offers to do to save my tears.  She does it in five minutes.  While she's in a meeting.

9.  Blog Posts.  I hired somebody to do a tour, but I still need more posts.  I do blog posts about my book, ad nauseum.  So I try to make them cool, with gifs (see above).  Again, not my thing.

8.  Analytics.  This word is equated in my mind with other A words that I abhor, like algorithm, and ants.  I'm trying to figure out why I had nearly 3000 page views last Saturday, and am a bit worried that it's because I responded to a tweet by James Deen about Mr. Bungle.  My friends are all directing me to Google Analytics, which is like telling me to learn GREEK.  So I'm trying to figure out Google Analytics while hoping the knowledge will help me do better with this book release.  Somehow.  As if knowing my 'bounce rate' will help.  *snort*

7.  Favors.  I do favors all the time without thinking about them, yet I hate asking for them.  I know, it's all part of the game, but still.  Messaging blogs, and emailing other authors, reminding them of the time I did a spotlight/takeover/release blitz/whatever for them, and asking them to reciprocate is hard.  It's like telling somebody, "sure I'll do that for you, but I won't forget it, because I'll need a favor in return!"  I don't know, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and I can only hope that people aren't blacklisting me all over the indie author community.

6.  Timing.  Currently my book is at my formatter, and I know it will be ready, because I trust Deena and I know she will do everything in her power to have it back to me in a timely manner.  But still, it's out of my hands.  Somebody else has my baby.  And when I get it back, and put it up on Amazon, it could take as long as three days (like it did with Saving Charlie) to go live.  I thought I gave myself enough time to save this ulcer when I set my release date for Craze (April 27th, in case you don't realize), but it doesn't seem to matter.  I get a tummy-ache every time.

5.  FB events.  Sure they're fun.  Sure they're effective.  But they are a lot of work.  I am out of my damn mind, and don't know how to count, because this release event is from the 27th to the 30th.  Now, when I set it up, in my head, that was three days.  I told myself it would be a lot of work, but I could do it, with my PA's help.  When I started getting author involvement and making spreadsheets and stuff, I realized the 27-30 is FOUR FUCKING DAYS.   Facebook in general had been a major time suck for me this week, just trying to set up this event and get people invited, as well as the authors organized and takeover slots filled.

4.  Organization.  Not my forte.  My desk, office, living room, car, and kids' appearance are all evidence of that.  I have to be uber organized for release week.  Emailing and reminding reviewers to post reviews on release day, reminding authors of their takeover times, staying on top of everybody else, basically it's a major project, and I'm the project manager.  Seriously.

3.  Twitter.  I'd like to have a huge twitter thing, but don't totally understand how to do that.  I've recently gotten involved in twitter, with triberr and roundteam, but so far, most of my interaction has been 'Thanks @anneconley10 for all the RT' which I know is roundteam boosting my stuff, but hell...  You're welcome for all the RTs, can you RT some of my stuff?  Back to the favors...  Anyway, I want to do a Q and A thing on Twitter, but don't know how, so that's on my list of stuff to do this weekend.

2.  I only have so many hours in the day... I work on book stuff from 5:30 am until 2:00.  After that, I'm Mommy.  I can take some breaks from the Mommy thing, while the kids are iPadding out, but that's not much time to focus on one thing.

1.  I'm a writer.  None of this other stuff (except the Mommy thing, I love that) is really my bag.  I would much rather be writing this Civil War story told through the POV of the lady who bought the old farm house and is falling in love and having hot sex with her handiman who is an ex-con.  But NOOO-OOOO.  I've got release week, so instead, I'm pulling out my hair...

In the end, it's worth it.  I've got some great stuff planned for next week, and it's going to be fun.  I may not eat, or sleep.  My kids may forget what I look like, and I'm sure the in-laws will make the four-hour drive for a surprise visit, but it's about getting my book into y'all's hands.  That's really what it's all about.  I tell stories.  And I want you to read them.

Tell me, please, what makes you cray-cray.  What's making your hair fall out at the moment?  Let's commiserate.  And in case you haven't heard, Craze is releasing April 27th on all major retailers!

Synopsis
Tristan Loren is the first to admit he’s lived a privileged life.
However, the top schools, the best games and phones and cars, the finest of whatever his heart desired has come with strangers yelling for his attention and camera flashes in his face.
His classmates have visions of college life in the fall following senior year, while his fantasy is a normal existence. Whatever normalcy is, he’s sure it’s not graduating with honors--and his virginity.
Aside from having a paranoid mom who has made it her mission to see that he’s never alone with a girl, he wants his first time to be with someone who doesn’t know him as Jack Storm-of-the-multi-platinum-Jackal Junior.
Chasing the vision of a woman and a world who doesn’t know of him takes him from the sunshiny suburbs of Dallas to the snowy streets of Detroit.
When he sees Sash in person, the girl he’s texted, phoned, and Skyped for the better part of a year, he’s drawn to her secret smile, and the tattooed half sleeves decorating her arms. Her fiery, fun personality and musical skills make her seem the soul mate he’s been seeking.
But Sash has her own secrets—secrets that make him wish he’d never met her. Falling for Sash and finding his own identity may cost him more than what’s in his wallet.
A Shit Storm can stand alone but for fans of Six Silver Strings Series, this novel includes scenes with characters from G-Strings and D-Strings with several appearances of Jack and Marissa Storm.

Guest Post:

Standing in the Shadows

The inspiration for Tristan Loren in is every kid who has grown up in the shadow of someone. In A Shit Storm, this shadow is a celebrity parent. Everyone at one point has said, “You know, the Smith’s kid.” Tristan is “the rock star’s kid.”

He lives in a protective yet very visible bubble. He’s spent half his life buffered from the outside world by bodyguards.

When I was younger, my parents warned me against eating anything they hadn’t given me themselves. I have memories of James snatching cookies from my hand, right before they touched my lips.

Even when his father, Jack Storm, moves them from L.A., Tristan still feels an invisible something between him and everyone else. It’s intimidating to him to be the descendent of womanizing rock star Jack Storm.

The fact that I’m a young Jack Storm doppelganger causes as much havoc in my life as heaven.
Hell, thanks to time standing still on Pinterest boards and Google images, sometimes I’m mistaken for my dad by women who are too crazed with excitement to remember what decade it is.

Afraid he won’t live up to the expectation of being a rock star’s kid, he maintains an emotional distance from his peers.
A date, however, didn’t get me laid like almost every other high school male on prom night…
Why?
When it comes to sex…, the problem is who I am.
I’m Tristan Storm.
Did you catch I said Storm, not Loren?
Because I am. I’m Tristan Storm as much as Tristan Loren. And the ‘S’ name is a lot to live up to.

It’s not easy growing up in the shadows of a well-known parent—or even sibling. Look at my friend, Mal, who was two years behind her sister in school—a sister who made straight A’s and the honor roll every semester. Teacher’s clucked their tongues and shook their heads when Mal made a C. There was my boyfriend, Dave, whose father did time in prison for a felony drug charge. My parents continuously told me I could do better although Dave—unlike Mal whom they loved—was a straight-A student, and on the honor roll, and a wonderful guy. And then there’s Cole, the rock star’s son, who doesn’t play a lick. How tiring it is to see the eyebrows shoot up.

A Shit storm is dedicated to rock star offspring; you are your own star.

Excerpt:
 “Take a shower with me…”
My heart pounds when she immediately smiles and brushes against me for a hug as she swings out of bed and stands.
Stealthily, we traipse the hall to the bathroom, and once we’re closed inside, I start the water. I drop my tee shirt, sweatpants, socks, and briefs to the floor, greedily eying her as her clothing mingles with mine.
We step over the side of the tub. After I wet my head, she reaches up, fingering with a feather touch the skin above my brow. “You sure you’re supposed to get that wet?”
I’ve forgotten about the wound on my face and the skin bonding glue, but as I do the math in my head, I realize it’s been three days, and that’s all that had been required to keep it dry. I’m about to tease her and fake a freak-out, like the gash may pop open at any second, when the beauty of her sleek wet body distracts me.
It isn’t normal for either Sladen or Mark to be up and about until mid-morning. Sladen pretty much opens shop when he gets there since few people schedule tattoos before noon. Mark has no morning classes. Hell, I sometimes wonder if he has any classes. He rarely studies that I notice.
So when the bathroom door opening creates a noticeable draft just as Sash and I are getting started. I instinctively swing my body, hoping through the frosty shower curtain her silhouette is hidden, sandwiched between the back shower wall and me.
“Sorry, dude. I’ll just be a sec.” Mark speaks as a steady flow hits the toilet basin. “Hey, you think I can borrow your bike tomorrow? I’ve got to…”
His voice fades to a garble as Sash licks my collarbone and closes her fingers around me. I drop my surprised gaze, and she tips a devilish smile.
“…so I’d owe you, man.”
“Yeah, sure. No problem.” I answer, fighting a guttural groan as I lean into Sash.
“Thanks!” The toilet flushes, and he apologizes for scorching me. “Oops, sorry, man.
I wait until I see over the shower curtain the room is empty and the door is closed before closing both hands on two of Sash’s finest curves.
“You bad, bad girl… that was so wrong…” I drop my tongue to a slick, wet shoulder. “On so many levels…” I find more to lick.
A combination of a laugh and a groan leaves her lips… And it is in that moment we become public.
“Sash?”
Again, Mark’s presence causes my body to go automatically into shelter mode, and I freeze in place, willing him away, but knowing we aren’t going to get off that easily. Even in that early moment, the inflection in his voice when he says her name alerts me that something is off about the situation.
“You’re fucking him?” The door widens, and he moves back into the room.

My Review:

It honestly took me way too long to get into this story with the multiple POVs.  I was confused in the beginning as to why I was reading so much of the parents' POV, until about Chapter 20-something.  Then it occurred to me that I'd read their book already and it made more sense.  I cannot figure out why it took me so long.  I LOVED Tristan and Sasha's story--not so much the parents'.  I felt like the mom, especially, was more inconvenienced by her lack of control over her son than anything akin to worry or grief at his disappearance.  Where I should have been relating to the people my own age, instead I related to the kids.

While this sounds like a harsh review, I want it understood that I really enjoyed this story, it just confused me at first, and I was highly irritated with Mom.  Tristan and Sasha have a beautiful story, and watching him figure out who he is and what he wants in life was truly wonderful.  I would totally recommend this book, as it was different from other books in this genre.
