OMG! The latest addition to the Pierce Security series is here!

Anne Conley's latest novella, Redemption for Misty, launches Thursday, July 21st!

Blurb from Redemption for Misty:

A year ago Misty was kidnapped and left for dead in the floor of a dirty garage, when she was saved by the guys from Pierce Security.  Since then, she’s been living with her brother to save money, while working to build up business for her coffee shop that donates proceeds to victims of violent crimes against women.  But it’s a struggle.

When her over protective brother goes out of town, he leaves his Army buddy Chris, AKA, Casanova to stay with her, with explicit instructions to just keep her safe, not to get into her panties.  But his heart has other plans.  Chris has been in love with Misty’s picture for years.  With the strong need to protect also comes overwhelming feelings of desire.

But things change when the mysterious ‘Ghost’, a regular at her shop, comes in hinting about some unseen danger.  Chris and Misty learn promises are meant to be broken and consequences are worth accepting when danger threatens what you love the most.

Excerpt from Redemption for Misty:

Chris was settled at the shop, working diligently on a logo for the new client he’d met the day before. It was Saturday, and they were pretty slow compared to the weekdays near the capitol building. But there was still a steady stream of tourists visiting the State Capitol building and picnicking on the lawn, stopping in for coffee before they hit the road.

Misty had just refilled his cup, one of her hands full with two fresh cappuccinos and the coffee pot in the other. When the noise started, everyone in the coffee shop jumped, but Misty’s reaction was more severe, and Chris completely lost it.

Pop. Pop.

Everything slowed down for Chris. Misty’s body jerked, and she hissed loudly, as if in pain. All he could do was react. Still in slow motion, he leaped from his seat, diving toward his girl. He tackled her to the ground as she yelled in obvious pain.
Then he was covered in hot, wet blood. He’d forgotten how hot blood was. But Misty’s blood was boiling. And she was groaning.

“Where are you hurt?” She’d been shot. Right here in front of him. Crash was going to kick his ass. And he might as well just go home to his mom. There was no way he could forgive himself. He should have made her stay in the kitchen, where there weren’t any windows. Or home. Yeah. She’d be safe at home. His hands skated across her body, looking for wounds, but all he could feel was hot wetness. It felt like weird blood. It wasn’t sticky at all.
“Why don’t you take her into the kitchen?” Ghost asked, a thin smile on his lips. “Those Volkswagen backfires can be brutal.”

Chris climbed off Misty, who rolled over to expose a wet, brown torso. Coffee. He’d burned her with coffee. What he’d done hit him like a punch in the gut.

“Fuck, I’m sorry.” Without another word, Chris scooped her up and held her in his arms while she tried to hold her shirt away from her skin. She hadn’t been shot. Chris had burned the ever-loving shit out of her with hot coffee.

Scroll Down for a Sneak Peek!!!

Excerpt from Redemption for Misty:

When Chris had learned about their coffee shop—and how she used the proceeds to help other victims—another layer had been added to the package, and he’d admired her even more. She was smart and beautiful. Now that he lived with her, Chris could admit he was half in love with her.

He watched her carefully while she worked. Sure, he made logos, worked and shit while he was there, but her smile… Jesus… It did things to him. Nice things. He was on a constant lookout for another glimpse of it. She was friendly and warm to everybody she came in contact with. She cleaned up spills with a smile and gave out free treats to kids.

But she was still his buddy’s sister. They’d been through hell together, and he wouldn’t betray his friend by doing the things with Misty he dreamed of. Chris let out a tortured sigh as he laid the shrimp on the grill. Yeah, he would just have to keep his feelings to himself. No way would he jeopardize his friendship to try something with Misty. Knowing his luck, it wouldn’t work out, and he’d alienate his friend and end up without Misty anyway.

But when he went inside with the shrimp, he smelled something that had made his cock semi-hard since he was fifteen years old.

Baking apples.

He took a deep breath, inhaling the cinnamon spicy goodness, and walked into the kitchen. “Something smells great.”

Misty turned with that smile on her face, holding out a piece of flakey awesomeness for him to taste. “Thanks. Taste this and tell me what you think. I’m trying out a new apple strudel recipe for the shop.”

He held her wrist while opening his mouth, taking the bite she offered, careful to not get her fingers. Holy Christ, did he want to. He wanted to suck all the appley deliciousness off her and watch her lips part on a gasp, see the pulse in her neck start to pound, and then he’d do so much more. But he refrained.

Instead, the flavors detonated on his tongue in a myriad of happiness. “Oh my God. That is the best thing I’ve ever tasted.” Chris groaned, not only because it was, but because she’d reacted anyway. She blushed, a dark red he didn’t think would be possible with her skin tone, but she’d done it. And of course, his mind was making it dirty.

Ensorcelled Jaunt
Push harder, her mind roared as her powerful limbs sprinted forward. Step by step, she was desperate to use her ability to go faster, to prove she was a warrior, like the rest of the Horde. Harder! she encouraged herself as she leapt over a fallen log, ducked under a low lying branch, and slid down a ditch into the small brook. The burning in her legs was a reminder––it was after her. She could hear the panting, its claws digging into the wet mud, and her own splashing as she ran through the spring. Her vision was disoriented from the caapi root tea she'd been given, which forced her to use her other senses to navigate the forest. Around her neck, she wore a black tourmaline pendant nestled inside an ancient symbol with which she was not familiar. It served as a ward to block the use of elemental abilities to the person who wore it, but Kaylin Wilde thought it was a miserable nuisance. Her long hair had been purposely cut to match the other Horde members. Shaved on the sides, all that was left of her raven tresses was a single, long braid, which bounced against her back. A few more feet. The air was chilled, and a fine mist had coated the surface of every plant, rock, and tree, making this jaunt even more dangerous. One mistake could be disastrous. The crisp air intermingled with the scent of pine trees, moist soil, and the strong, distinctively repulsive odor of the beasts chasing her. She needed a way to outrun them, but without her ability, she needed her wits more than ever. In the distance, the glistening water bounced off her salvation, and she knew what she had to do. Kaylin saw the long branch hanging over the small brook and realized she only had one shot or she would be done for. Moving to the edge of the water as her toes dug into the wet muck, Kaylin took two long strides and leapt onto a large boulder. With the force of the landing, she bent her knees and then catapulted herself toward the branch before her. Kaylin's calloused palms connected with the rugged bark, and her fingers tightened around the limb. She lifted her legs just as she heard the loud snap of jaws clamping, ruthless growling, and her own labored breathing.

Cover Design: Laura Hidalgo of Beyond DEF

SYNOPSIS

Welcome to Mystic, Texas, where the past stays alive in more ways than one.

Vanessa Power, a budding Indie Romance author, believes the town is calling her name, being the new life and fresh start she’s craving. She’s met an amazing group of women who have a regular book club, reading only Indie Authors. Unfortunately, her new house is in worse shape than she thought and holds more mysteries than she’s prepared for. And then there’s the handyman.

Linc Patterson holds more mysteries than her house and the town combined, with a past he won’t reveal in a package which is built for nothing short of sin.

Linc is captivated by his new boss, the only person in town who will give him a job, but only because she doesn’t know he’s an ex-con. Can he keep his past locked away, while at the same time indulging in his fantasies with the pleasantly curvy and deliciously sexy Vanessa? Probably not.

They are both looking for a new start in life. Will they be able to find it together? Or will something sinister keep them apart?

Excerpt:

Later, Vanessa was downstairs painting, when Linc called out to her. She hadn’t been imagining him upstairs, sweaty, at all. His grunts as he moved heavy pieces around hadn’t affected her in the least. So when he yelled her name, she didn’t totally run to do his bidding.

Lies.
She tried not to look too eager as she stuck her head around the door where he worked. Linc was standing there in a pair of low-slung jeans, showing off a beautiful torso that made her mouth dry. She still couldn’t get used to it.

“Can you hold this sheetrock up there while I screw it in?” He’d apparently finished the floors in this room and was moving on to the ceilings.

Unable to squeak out an answer, she nodded and went to the ladder he had set up.

“Be really still. This scaffolding isn’t real sturdy,” he cautioned as he held it while Vanessa not-so-elegantly climbed up. The sheetrock was propped up with wood pieces, so she wouldn’t have to bear the entire weight of it herself, which was probably a good thing. Vanessa got into place and reached up to hold the sheetrock flush against the ceiling, and Linc climbed up and stood behind her.

Oh. God.

His body heat against her back was intense and warmed her all over. It was like suddenly being inside of an oven as Linc was surrounding her. He put his hands over hers and adjusted the sheetrock a bit, aligning it to the corner while sparks of energy flowed from his hands up her arm, like a shock. As he reached around her with the electric screwdriver, she could smell him—his clean sweat—musky and sweet—laced with the scent of leather and aftershave. It made her lightheaded. She couldn’t stop watching his arms as the muscles undulated under the skin with effortless power. His breaths in her ear sent tingles throughout her body, and Vanessa had a hard time being still, wanting to rub her thighs together to stop the pooling moisture in her panties from running down her thighs.

Yeah. She thought she had repressed all this wanting to rub on him like a cat in heat business, but now it was back in full force. But he had been mostly professional and she wasn’t going to be the one to break the professionalism between them. So she didn’t act on her impulses.

Besides, he’d been so frustrated about the book earlier. And his bi-polar mood swings were ridiculous. Sometimes, he didn’t even look at her, and others, like now, he was all over her. And he was her employee, so she couldn’t beg him to screw her like she wanted to. It would ruin everything, right?

Even if she longed to turn around on the ladder and lick him all over.

“Good… That’s real good,” he murmured in her ear as he fastened the sheetrock to the ceiling, sending all sorts of erotic thoughts through her head before inhaling deeply behind her. Goose bumps erupted across her skin, and it took everything inside her to not whimper. The ease with which he’d screwed the panel of material to the ceiling suggested she might not be necessary in this whole process, but she wasn’t going to say so.

Resting his hand at her hip, he maneuvered her across the scaffolding, as if she were a dainty little thing. “Other end?”

“Sure,” she managed to squeak. And they did it all over again, seven more times. Vanessa was a weak puddle of goo by the time they had finished. And the look Linc gave her when they’d climbed off the scaffolding was loaded. Heated. Anything but professional.

She had no fucking idea what to do with it.
